Shorten long file names in bulk while preserving extensions and keeping duplicate output names unique.
How shortening works
The maximum length applies to the complete output filename. When extension preservation is on, the tool reserves space for the final extension first, then shortens only the base name. The middle option keeps useful text from both ends of the base name.
Compatibility note
Operating systems, cloud services and applications can use different path and filename limits. This tool only shortens pasted filename text; it does not rename, upload or modify your actual files. Choose a limit that fits the system you are preparing names for.
